Q. Do I need a doctor’s prescription or referral?

A. Compression socks and stockings: Compression socks of 20 mmHg or higher (medical grade) should be prescribed by a physician. A physician will be able to assess if you have any contraindications to the use of compression socks. All Bauerfeind compression socks are 20 mmHg or higher.

Orthopedic braces (ex. knee brace): No referral or prescription is necessary to purchase an orthopedic brace, but there are advantages to having a physician prescription:
1. If you wish to submit your orthopedic brace purchase as a claim to your insurance provider, they usually require a physician’s prescription.
2. The purchase of an orthopedic brace is zero-rated (no tax) when supplied on the written order of a medical practitioner. For more information, please see the Medical and Assistive Devices publication by the Canada Revenue Agency.

Q. What products does Feet And Up carry?

A. We are an authorized Bauerfeind retailer. We specialize in Bauerfeind braces, supports and compression stockings – available in standard sizes or custom Made-To-Measure. All Bauerfeind products (including Made-To-Measure) are manufactured in Germany.
We also provide other high quality medical devices: TENS machines, walker boots and cryotherapy units.

Q. Are your products covered by my insurance plan? Can you directly bill my insurance company?

A. Most health insurance plans will cover some, if not all of the cost of the medical products we carry. If you need help with the insurance claim process or if your insurance provider requires an estimate for pre-approval, we would be happy to assist you. We are pleased to provide direct billing services to applicable insurance providers and policies, such as Green Shield Canada and ODSP.

For all insurance inquiries, please contact us to get started.

Q. Do you keep Bauerfeind products in stock? Can I try on the products before I buy?

A. Orthopedic braces: We carry a full size range for 25+ of the most popular Bauerfeind braces on hand, including knee braces, back braces, ankle braces, wrist braces and elbow braces. We encourage you to try on the brace to ensure it is the right product for you.
Compression socks and compression stockings: For hygienic reasons, we cannot permit compression socks to be tried on. We do keep common sizes in stock for immediate purchase.

Q. Do you offer custom or made-to-measure Bauerfeind products?

A. Yes! Bauerfeind makes excellent off-the-shelf products, but we understand that not everyone’s needs can be met with an off-the-shelf product. All Bauerfeind custom, made-to-measure products are manufactured in Germany. If you require a custom Bauerfeind product, an appointment with a Made-to-Measure Bauerfeind Fitter is needed. You may book an appointment online at your convenience, or contact us for an appointment.

Q. How do I know what size I am?

A. Finding the right size is important to ensure comfort and stability. All of our staff are Certified Fitters of Bauerfeind brace and compression products. We will be happy to help you find the correct size! We are also pleased to offer custom, made-to-measure services on select Bauerfeind braces and compression socks. All custom, made-to-measure Bauerfeind products are made with the same high quality in Germany.

Q. How do I know which Bauerfeind product is right for me?

A. During your appointment, you will be asked some questions about your area of concern. We will try our best to make appropriate recommendations based on your concerns, your lifestyle and your goals. If you are looking for a Bauerfeind brace, we recommend you to try it on in our store. If you are looking for a Bauerfeind compression sock, you won’t be able to try it on (for hygienic reasons) but we will be happy to show you the different types of compression socks.

Q. Can I place an order online? Do you offer curbside pickup?

A. For all order inquiries, please contact us at [email protected], or by phone (365) 608-5688. Curbside pickup is available upon request.

Q. Can Bauerfeind products be washed?

A. Yes. Washing regularly helps the product last longer. Proper washing and drying helps the knit support maintain its elasticity and original fit. All Bauerfeind supports are made with machine washable materials.

See our Blog posts for washing and product care tips.

Q. What is your return policy?

A. Orthopedic braces and Compression products (Off-the-shelf): 14 days exchange for unused, unwashed products in original packaging with original receipt. Due to hygienic reasons, used compression socks and orthopedic braces are final sale.

Orthopedic braces and Compression products (Custom made-to-measure): Due to the custom nature of these products, they are not eligible for refund.

Q. Do Bauerfeind products have a warranty?

A. *Please note: We are not the manufacturers of the Bauerfeind products we sell, but we will do our best to facilitate warranty claims between the purchaser and Bauerfeind Canada.

Bauerfeind Canada warrants that all goods will be free from manufacturing defects for a period of 30 days for orthopedic braces and compression products. Normal wear and tear, or damage due to misuse of the product is not considered a defect. Products that have been altered, cut, or modified in any way will nullify the warranty. The affected product will be repaired, replaced or a refund will be issued – at the sole discretion of Bauerfeind Canada.

Q. What is Bauerfeind?

A. Bauerfeind is a traditional family company with a history going back more than 90 years.
